Royal British Legion Veterans Day Cornwall County Rally Sunday 3rd August 2008

 

Liskeard Branch and Club are proudly hosting this years combined Veterans Day and county Rally. In the best traditions of The legion in Cornwall, this is going to be an outstanding event so don't miss out. Events on the day include:

Community Veterans Mental Health Service 

Cornwall Chosen as pilot area

It is an initiative designed to prove a model of community-based mental health recommended by the Health and Social Care Advisory Service (an independent expert charity) and advised by a panel of appropriate experts.  It recognises that in some areas of the country, the NHS can no longer access easily the expertise in military mental health required to meet the needs of some mentally ill veterans.  It addresses this by establishing on a regional basis networks of expertise in military mental health to provide specialist assessment and treatment in a culturally sensitive setting.  There will be 6 sites across the UK as well as some associated projects.  The pilots will last 2 years, with evaluation before consideration is given to wider rollout.For more information on this subject Click here

Liskeard Royal British have raised for the 2006 Poppy Appeal a grand total of :

£14,100.38

This is the first time we have reached over £14,000 well done to everyone involved, the work does not stop there the 2007 Poppy Appeal has started !

 

 

 

Veteran's Badge eligibility now extended to 31st December 1984

Men and women who served in HM Armed Forces up to and including 31st December 1984 are entitled to a Veterans Badge.
